1. Do I pay any fee for job placement services with you?
No. Our nurses are not responsible for fees.
2. Why should I work for Nurse Connection, Inc.?
Nurse Connection, Inc. (NCI) was formed as a new alternative for the nursing industry. We strive to achieve the best pay, benefits and conditions for our healthcare professionals.
3. How does I become a nurse with NCI?
To become a nurse with NCI, complete our form and you will be contacted by one of our nurse recruiters. Your nurse recruiter will answer questions regarding NCI, our open assignments, our company benefits, the licensure requirements for each position and any
other questions you might have. All it takes is one phone call. We believe it will be the best career decision you'll ever make.
4. Am I under any obligation to you after submitting my application?
No. The application you submit will be used to evaluate your qualifications against our open positions. You can register and let us know when you're planning to be available and we will work to link you with the assignments of your choice.
5. What are the requirements?
NCI partners with RN's with acute care experience with the last 12 consecutive months. We also need you to have a license for the state in which you will practice (If you don't have a license we will guide you through the licensing process).
6. How do I choose an assignment?
After completion of the requirement process, you will then be presented with available assignments based on your specialty and shift preferences. It's always your choice.
7. What happens after I select an assignment?
A copy of your paperwork with your selected start date, unit, and shift will be sent to the facility for their review. A time will also be established for a telephone interview between you and the healthcare facility.
8. What happens after the telephone interview?
You and the facility will decide if the assignment is right for you. If the facility extends a request for you and you decide to accept it, your recruiter will confirm your start date, shift, unit and salary. Shortly therafter, you will receive a confirmation package
in the mail with information pertaining to your assignment.
9. How long are NCI's assignments?
NCI offers various contract lengths from 13 to 52 weeks. We also offer bonuses to nurses who are happy to commit to a longer contract although you are under no obligation to do so. The choice is always yours.
10. What happens at the end of an assignment?
At the end of your contract you can anticipate either an offer to extend your contract at the current facility, to select another location/facility, or to return home and let us know when you wish to travel again in the future.
11. What are NCI's hourly pay rates?
Pay rates depend on the facility and location. All rates are highly competitive.
12. Can NCI keep me continuously working as a traveler?
Yes. If you are flexible about travel assignments we will always be able to find a position that suits you.
13. What type of accomodation does NCI provide?
We provide free private one-bedroom or studio apartments, including furniture.
14. Can NCI arrange accommodation if I am traveling with my family or a pet?
Yes. We can arrange accomodation to suit your needs. If you have a pet we will find accomodation that will accept your pet, however pet deposits varies and will be your responsibility. NCI will refund you the deposit upon completion of your assignment if the landlord agrees
that the accommodation has been returned clean and well maintained.
15. Does NCI cover my utilities?
Utilities are not included.
16. Does NCI cover my moving costs?
Yes. We reimburse mileage travel from your permanent residence to your assignment, up to $300.
17. If I find my own accommodation can I be reimbursed?
Yes. If you are able, or prefer to make your own housing arrangements NCI will provide you with a subsidy equivalent to the cost of our accommodation package. This will be paid to you along with your pay check. Your NCI recruiter will give you the exact
amount if this is your preferred solution to your housing needs.
18. If I stay with the relative or friend while on assignment, will I receive the housing subsidy?
Yes. You will receive subsidy payments if you make the arrangements yourself, regardless of where you live.
19. Does NCI offer different lengths of shifts?
Yes. We offer just about any variation of shifts ranging from 8, 10 and 12 hours, depending on the facility.
20. How long will it take to find the right assignment?
If your documentation is in order and license is current for the state to which you're traveling we can place you within 7 working days.
21. If I like my assignment, can I work full-time for the facility?
Yes. If the facility makes an offer and you will like to become a full-time employee, you will have to inform NCI immediately and complete the remainder of your contract with NCI. NCI will reach an understanding with the facility.
22. Does NCI award completion bonuses?
Yes, but only in some medical facilities. We offer $500 assignment completion bonus. For longer assignments the bonus maybe higher.
23. Does NCI award referral bonuses?
Yes. NCI rewards bonuses of $500 to $1,250. You will receive a cash bonus for every healthcare professional you refer when they complete 13 weeks of an assignment.
24. Does NCI provide insurance benefits?
Yes. After one year of continuous working relation.
25. Can I add my spouse and/or children to my insurance?
Yes. You may add your spouse or children to your insurance, and we will deduct the additional cost from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis.
26. Do you offer continuing education?
Yes. We provide an optional annual continuing education program.
27. Do I need to complete the NCI application form, or will my resume be enough?
Your resume will start the process, however by completing our application form you ensure that all the information our client facility needs, are available in a format that makes it easy for them to fully understand your skills and background.
28. Do I need to get a physical before I send in my application?
No. Only once you have accepted an assignment, does our client facility require a physical before you start the assignment (or a copy of one in the last year).
29. What should I do with my reference letters?
NCI requires two current (and above average) references from recent previous employers, before we can employ you. You have three options regarding reference letters:
- forward any that you have to us, along with the authorization for us to contact the reference for confirmation of the contents
- sign and send your reference letters to your employers, and ask them to return them to us
- authorize us to contact your reference directly and obtain reference letters from them
30. Do I need a license for each state as an RN?
Yes. You need a license for every state in which you work. Every state has different requirements, just call us and we will give you the contact information for the state's Board of Nursing and then you can request an application.
31. Who is responsible for getting my nursing license?
You are, however we can give you a list of every state's licensing board contact number.
32. How do I work out my taxes at the end of the year?
As your employer, NCI withholds your taxes; you are not an independent contractor. At the end of the year, you will receive a W-2 form, for every state in which you have worked.
